After the Egyptian Antiquities authorities revealed, on Thursday, a newly discovered corridor or crypt inside one of the major pyramids in Giza, dating back to about 4,500 years, questions are raised about what is at the end.

The Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, said that a jerkin corridor (a misleading engineering design that is similar to the upper part of the triangle) was revealed in the northern face of the pyramid of King Khufu the Great.

This discovery was reached within the framework of the Pyramids residents project, which was launched in 2015 in cooperation between major international universities from France, Germany, Canada, Japan, and a group of Egyptian experts, under the supervision of an international scientific and archaeological committee headed by archaeological expert Zahi Hawas.

The project depends on a survey of the pyramid, using advanced technology that does not need drilling, to discover unknown internal spaces or brown structures and try to reach construction methods that are still mysterious.

Discover the corridor on the northern side of the Khufu pyramid, with a length of 9 meters and two meters wide, located above the main entrance to the pyramid.
Archaeologists do not know the nature of the corridor function, which cannot be accessed from the outside.
In 2017, scientists announced the discovery of another 30 -meter closed corridor inside the Khufu pyramid as well.

How did you discover the Pyramid of Khufu?

  • Christian Gross, a professor of non -destructive tests at Munich Technical University and a prominent member of the project, has announced the use of various scanning techniques to locate the corridor, including ultrasound measurements and land penetration radars, and hopes that these technologies will lead to more results within the pyramid.

  • Gross said there are two types of large limestone at the end of the corridor, and the question now is what is behind these stones and below the room

Antiquities expert said

  • This basement could have been created to relieve pressure on a specific room, the burial chamber of King Khufu can be.
The search will continue in the coming days to reveal what is present below this discovered corridor.

  • The discovery will be the beginning towards knowing the secrets within the pyramid of King Khufu, and certainly there are many of them we have not yet known.

This discovery has no connection to the ventilation holes at all, as these openings are not the same as some think for ventilation, but it hides something else behind, and it is important to know what it is.

When we entered the robot into the pyramid, we discovered that the stones are tightly closed, as these holes were not known at all.

Khufu's pyramid

  • The pyramid is also known for a distance of about 11 miles from central Cairo as the pyramid of Khufu, which was built by Pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty, which ruled from 2509 to 2483 BC.
  • Khufu, is the second pharaoh of the fourth Egyptian family, which dates back to the twenty -sixth century BC.
It is one of the three pyramids that make up the great pyramids in the Giza complex.
  • The Egyptian pyramids are the only one among the seven wonders of the ancient world that survived to this day.
Experts are divided on how to build pyramids, so discoveries even relatively small are of great interest.
