A European satellite collides with Earth after 18 years in space.

The malfunctioning European satellite returned to Earth's atmosphere over the North Pacific Ocean between Alaska and Hawaii. The European Space Agency (ESA) confirmed the return of the European Remote Sensing 2 (ERS-2). The satellite was first launched on April 21, 1995 to study the Earth and oceans. And the ice caps on our planet, where it was taken out of service in 2011.
