Can artificial intelligence generate false information and use deep fake images ?  

The truth is that there is a lot of excitement around the ability of generative AI to create content, from use cases in producing marketing materials, to translating the voices of podcasters into different languages .

Generating undocumented information

But with big promises come big fears, including, but not limited to, the widespread spread of misinformation, especially through deepfakes, the use of creators' work without attribution, and massive job losses .  

With these potential downsides in mind, governments around the world are trying to create AI regulations, or laws, that promote safety and fair use, while continuing to encourage innovation .  

Regulations and laws

United States: The US government has so far allowed technology companies to set their own safeguards around AI, but lawmakers say regulation of AI is necessary; They held multiple meetings in 2023 with leading artificial intelligence companies from OpenAI to Nvidia. Lawmakers discussed licensing and certification requirements for high-risk AI models when necessary .  

America plans to establish a special agency to supervise artificial intelligence services *  

At the same time, federal agencies, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Justice, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Federal Trade Commission, have said that many AI applications are already subject to existing laws .
