After the devastating earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, in which thousands of people died, the mezzanine floors began to be discussed.

After the earthquakes, which claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people, debate began about many elements of the buildings. One of them is on the mezzanine floor. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has prepared a regulation banning the mezzanine floor. There are various interesting topics in the regulation that will be discussed in the City Council this week.

In the authorized projects, there is no obstacle to constructing these floors, but it is mentioned that the mezzanine floor reduces the durability of the building in the event of a possible earthquake. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Administration has prepared a regulation prohibiting the construction of these floors in new buildings.
